TAPE&DRIVES is an alternative punk/grunge noise band formed in Tokyo.
The members are vocalist Rui Rotten, guitarist Fujino, bassist Batako, and drummer Morishita. They began performing in 2016 as a Nirvana cover band and later started creating original songs.
They are heavily influenced by early ’90s all-female bands such as Sleater-Kinney, Seagull Screaming Kiss Her Kiss Her, and Hole. Vocalist Rui Rotten is an Australian-born Japanese national who graduated from the Sydney College of the Arts (SCA). The lyrics are written in English, and she creates the artwork herself, paying homage to the DIY spirit of punk.
